Description: We are seeking an intelligent, professional, and politically-minded intern who desire hands-on experience in a fast-paced learning environment. We offer the opportunity to learn the inner-workings of the legislative process, while helping us achieve our strategic goals. The legislative intern will assist Representative Pscholka and his staff with constituent relations, general office tasks, legislative research, and special projects.
In addition to training and experience in specific areas of the Michigan House of Representatives, interns will gain valuable office skills in organization, persuasion, and etiquette. Attending committee meetings and attending certain social functions are also a normal part of the internship experience. Interns will be expected to work 12-20 hours per week.
Salary Range: This is an unpaid position, but college credit is possible. (See your school’s Internship Coordinator.)
Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications include strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work efficiently and independently. Knowledge of the Legislature and the legislative process is a plus but not required. Basic computer skills are required, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
